PSL 5 Match 18th: The Gladiators will probably be moving into the match onto the backs of back-to-back defeats. Following the Lahore Qalandars’ success over Quetta Gladiators, the points table at the PSL is becoming a bit cramped up. The Gladiators are put third after the throw, but things can go downhill for them fast as United and Zalmi are breathing with their necks.
In their past two matches, the Gladiators could not chase down goals, and they’ll be seeking to alter the pattern. The Zalmi, on the other hand, is languishing fifth at the table and require a victory to scale up the table. The group, headed by Wahab Riaz, continue to go to the Karachi Kings on Monday. In their previous meeting, Kamran Akmal’s century withdrew the Gladiators away.
The pitch in Rawalpindi has proven to be a bowler’s nightmare so far. The pursuing teams have won three out of those four games. Scores over 180 have not been around the secure side. Batting second ought to be the way ahead, particularly with dew playing a part. There’ll be a chance of rain during the times, and flaws seem inevitable.
Team Combination
Peshawar Zalmi
The Zalmi’s batting has mostly been directed by Kamran Akmal, which has 177 runs in a strike-rate of all 165.42. Banton has a mere 54 runs in 5 matches at 10.80. Haider Ali has amazed and all but wants to be a bit more consistent.
Shoaib Malik has found it hard also, barring his 68. The onus is also about the likes of Liam Livingstone and Lewis Gregory. Wahab Riaz is the best wicket-taker with five scalps. Gregory and Hasan Ali have four wickets each to their title. Yasir Shah also chose two wickets last time around.
Probable XI: Rahat Ali, Tom Banton, Haider Ali, Hasan Ali, Carlos Brathwaite, Shoaib Malik, Lewis Gregory, Wahab Riaz (C), Yasir Shah, Kamran Akmal (wk), Liam Livingstone.
Quetta Gladiators
The Gladiators batting has great numbers, but it succeeds from the previous game. Jason Roy and Shane Watson are their top run-scorers, and they will need to be at the top of the game. Azam Khan has churned out a few match-winning knocks while pursuing, and he must find rhythm too.
Skipper Sarfaraz has 144 runs on his title. Ben Cutting has been their standout player. He’s 129 runs, averaging 64.50 besides picking up seven wickets. Naseem has guaranteed, but are accepted for races when placed under stress.
Probable XI
Mohammad Hasnain, Jason Roy, Ahsan Ali, Azam Khan, Anwar Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, Fawad Ahmed, Sarfaraz Ahmed (C & WK), Naseem Shah, Ben Cutting, Shane Watson
Sarfaraz Ahmed– Quetta Gladiators | Tom Banton– Peshawar Zalmi
